Gadani is the world’s third largest ship breaking yard. More than one million tons of steel is salvaged there per year causing enormous ecological damages on Pakistan’s coast and extreme conditions for 6,000 workers employed.

On 1 November 2016, at least 20 people were killed, 59 burned as a result of gas cylinder explosions on a ship being scrapped.
